Upland, CA –California’s highest-ranking elected Republican Diane Harkey announced today her endorsement of Sean Flynn for Congress. Harkey has served on the State Board of Equalization since 2014 after representing Orange County in the California State Assembly for three terms.
“Now more than ever, we need a voice in Washington who will be a fierce champion for taxpayers and fight for common-sense policies that will create jobs and help keep businesses in California,” said Harkey, who currently represents a large portion of San Bernardino County as well as the counties of Riverside, Orange, San Diego, and Imperial on the State Board of Equalization. “Sean understands how the burdens of government over-reach can be barriers to our own prosperity. It’s that mindset, that deep and personal understanding of how the real world actually works that will make him a difference-maker in Washington.”
“Diane Harkey is a perfect example of the kind of legislator I hope to be,” said Flynn who released his first TV ad yesterday entitled Dummies. “She has a life story that I really identify with. Diane received her degree in Economics from USC and spent the bulk of her adult life working in private enterprise before answering the call to public service by representing our community in the State Legislature. She’s been a tireless advocate of taxpayers who time and again have returned her to elected office to keep fighting for them. I have such admiration for her and am proud to have her stand with me in our campaign to take the fight to Washington.”
Since announcing his candidacy just a few months ago, Flynn has received the support of the Inland Empire Taxpayers Association, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, Orange County Board of Supervisor Michelle Steel, Dr. Tirso del Junco, the former Chairman of the California Republican Party (CRP), former Chairman of the CRP and President of the California Republican Assembly Mike Schroeder, and San Bernardino City Councilmember Henry Nickel. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has also designated Sean as one of 11 “On the Radar” candidates, the first level of the committee’s Young Guns program, for the 2016 election cycle.
Sean completed a B.A. in economics at USC before going on to complete a Ph.D. in economics at U.C. Berkeley. Recognizing that unemployment in San Bernardino is far above the national average, Sean became a founding board member of Employment Means Success, an Inland Empire non-profit that finds jobs for discouraged and disabled workers.
